THINGS TO DO
Bonaire has many different beaches to discover; most are made up of coral rubble. Visit '1000 Steps' in the north of the island; this iconic site is one of the most popular beaches on the island. Accessed by a dramatic staircase in the cliffs, it offers beautiful snorkeling and dramatic scenery. Or try 'Pink Beach' in the south; one of Bonaire's few sandy beaches.
One of the most impressive and changing environments of Bonaire is the norther route. You will pas a beautiful coast line road with some nice beaches to explore. Then you will come in the Goto lake area where you can almost certain find flamingo’s, and drive true mountain areas with some good viewing points. On your way to the old city of Rincon you will drive through the old volcano crator. After passing Rincon back to Kralendijk again.
In the south you will find a really deferent environment then in the north, in the north you have mountains and cliffs, and on the south everything is flat. The highest point will be the salt mountains from the salt company on Bonaire. If you drive along the coast starting at the salt flats, you’ll pass the little houses from the slaves who had to work in the saltpans. You’ll drive along to the east coast of Bonaire where the waves hit the coast for 1000’s of years. Continuing your trip will take you to Lac Bay, here you can have a drink and a nice view at lac bay. After that continue your trip passing the mangroves back to Kralendijk.
Klein Bonaire is an amazing place to visit when you are on Bonaire. Only accessible by boat but well worth it. It is an amazing place to go snorkelling, laying on the beach or take a small walk. Klein Bonaire has one of the most most beautiful reefs in the world to snorkel.
Do not forget to take your own food and drinks, because on Klein Bonaire there is only sun, sand and sea!
On the east side of Bonaire you can find some Indian inscriptions, they ares from the times that the first Bonaire Indian people came on the Island.
